Every October, the world pauses to talk about mental health. But this year, it’s about more than awareness — it’s about action.
The 2025 theme, “Mental Health and Humanitarian Emergencies,” reminds us that crisis isn’t always across the world — for many of us, it’s right here at home. Between racial stress, family pressures, and the constant hustle to survive and succeed, Black and Brown women carry more than most will ever know.
That’s why this year’s movement feels personal.
Taraji P. Henson is Leading with Love
Through her “Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation”, Taraji is turning pain into purpose. Her “Can We Talk? Summit” (Oct 10–12) brings together art, culture, and therapy — reminding us that healing can look like community, joy, and rest.
“We’re creating spaces that honor safety, belonging, and dignity,” says Henson.
Charlamagne tha God is Changing the Conversation
With his Mental Wealth Alliance, Charlamagne is helping Black men see therapy as strength — not weakness. His upcoming Mental Wealth Expo (Oct 11) gives our brothers tools and language for emotional wellness, something our community has needed for generations.
💕 How We Can All Honor Mental Health Day
🌿 Talk about it. Share what you’re feeling — silence keeps us sick.
🌿 Find culturally aware support. Therapy should feel safe and seen.
🌿 Protect your peace. Log off, rest, and breathe — it’s medicine.
🌿 Include your family. Healing becomes real when everyone joins in.
🌿 Give yourself grace. You’re allowed to rest, fall apart, and start again.
At SPALONews, we believe wellness is a right — not a luxury.
This World Mental Health Day, let’s commit to showing up for ourselves and each other, with softness, community, and courage.
