Elective cosmetic treatments have always been popular but 2017 saw the biggest rising trend in that minimally invasive treatments are now driving the market. The laser and energy treatments that are carving out a niche in the aesthetic market is rapidly growing and advancements in technology have allowed for a range of affordable and effective treatment options for areas of concern – from laser hair removal to new interior vaginal lasers.

A record 94 million people visited RealSelf (the leading source for people considering an elective cosmetic treatment) in 2017 to research treatments. For the first time ever, 50% of those people researched minimally invasive treatments.

The four key trends shaping the laser and energy device market:

  1. Fat reduction was the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatment category in 2017. CoolSculpting, Smart Lipo and SculpSure rank among the top 10 most researched branded laser and energy treatments overall.
  2. Vaginal rejuvenation is one of the fastest growing treatment categories on RealSelf as more women are searching for solutions to real vaginal health problems such as vaginal looseness, dryness, chronic vaginal infections, and urinary leakage that comes along with childbirth and menopause. As a category, interest in vaginal rejuvenation on RealSelf increased by 17% from 2016 to 2017.
  3. Facial lasers ranked among the top five most popular non-surgical treatment categories on RealSelf last year, and new brands are fueling recent spikes in consumer interest.
  4. Laser hair removal is a foundational treatment that is experiencing steady growth in consumer interest, growing 12% over 2016.

The collection features three products but only two are new, a Detangling Brush and Extension Brush. The Wave Tooth Comb is not a new product for Wet Brush as it is marketed as a Detangling Comb on the Wet Brush website , albeit the color choices are different under the new name on the TxturePRO site for women of color.

Detangling has consistently been a time consuming frustrating task when it comes to maintaining clean healthy natural tresses that Wet Brush hopes to conquer with the new TxturePRO line.
