TxturePRO by Wet Brush, the premiere collection of tools designed specifically for women of color who have curly, kinky & coily hair, covering the spectrum of hair types. The TxturePRO line is implemented with natural texture in mind easing the detangling process after shampooing, whilst providing more control and styling options.

Wet Brush smartly appointed Serayah McNeill, the 21-year-old actress, model and singer as the face for the TxturePRO line.

“McNeill’s affinity to beauty, her gorgeous natural hair and her onscreen presence makes her the ideal brand ambassador for an ongoing collaboration,” said Corey Huggins, vice president of marketing for TxturePro by Wet Brush.

“As someone who changes hairstyles so frequently for my career, it’s important to have a go-to beauty tool that will protect my natural hair while giving me the ability to be so versatile in my style,” said McNeill, who is best known for her role on Fox’s “Empire.” “Working with TxturePro is a natural fit, allowing me to celebrate my natural curls while being able to style them with ease because of this collection.”

The collection features three products but only two are new, a Detangling Brush and Extension Brush. The Wave Tooth Comb is not a new product for Wet Brush as it is marketed as a Detangling Comb on the Wet Brush website , albeit the color choices are different under the new name on the TxturePRO site for women of color.

Detangling has consistently been a time consuming frustrating task when it comes to maintaining clean healthy natural tresses that Wet Brush hopes to conquer with the new TxturePRO line.

Is your hair salon making you sick, literally.

Asthma, uterine fibroids, cancer, obesity and skin erosion have been linked to prolonged exposure to products designed for black hair. Revealed in a new study by Black Women for Wellness these products are not only some of the most toxic beauty products available but also unregulated, unlabeled and problematic.

According to the FDA, professional products (those sold only to professionals) are not required to list ingredients because the "Fair Packaging and Labeling Act" is applicable only to retail products for consumers. Due to lack of regulation that High End salon, where you are paying top dollar, that is using exclusive professional products could be making you sick.

Cosmetology professionals are required by law to complete a certain amount of Continuing Education hours (eight is an average) to renew their licenses biennial, although none of that training is relative to the products used daily in your salon. In 2011 the U.S. Department of Labor issued a warning against Hair Smoothing Products That Could Release Formaldehyde (Brazilian Blowout) that can cause allergic reactions of the skin, eyes, and lungs such as asthma-like breathing problems and skin rashes and itching and a cancer hazard.

Black Women for Wellness reports that in 2014 Black women spent upwards of 5 billion dollars on beauty products and services, twice as much as any other ethnic group. With the rush for products from development to market driven by demand and accompanied by under regulation the Black community is well served by studies such as "one hair story"
